field systems are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn the
sound field system off.

Dolby Digital and DTS

• Dolby Digital and DTS are digital encoding systems used on DVD

to carry surround sound. Both were originally developed for use in
cinemas.

•This unit automatically recognizes and decodes these systems.

Software encoded with DTS can
be identified with this mark.

• During play, pressing and holding the button also turns the setting

on and oft. (Press and hold again to cancel the setting.)

The DVD-Audio contains multiple-channel signals that cannot be
down-mixed.

Dolby Pro Logic II

The Dolby Pro Logic II processor works not only on sources

recorded with Dolby Surround, but also on any stereo source.

Each time you press the button:
MOVIE^MUSIC^OFF

MOVIE: Use this mode when playing movie software,

especially video tapes, recorded in Dolby Surround.

MUSIC: Adds surround effects to stereo sources.

Play a Dolby Surround or stereo

source.

This feature does not work for some discs.

Speaker level adjustments

Adjust the level of the speakers so they are the same apparent
level as the front speakers where you would normally be sitting and

listening (L, R ^ below).
Preparation
Press [DVD].

1 While stopped

Press [TEST] to output a test signal.
Lch: Front left
Cch: Center
Rch: Front right
RSch: Right surround
LSch: Left surround

2 Press [VOLUME, -F] or [—] to set the volume level normally

used for listening.

3 Press [A] (to increase) or [V] (to decrease).

C, RS. LS: -6dBto-F6dB

To stop the test signal, press [TEST] again.

■ To adjust speaker level during play

1 Press [CH SELECT] to select the speaker.

L, Rch-^Cch^RSch^LSch^SWch

•You can only adjust SWch if the disc inciudes a subwoofer

channel.

2 Press [A] (to increase) or [V] (to decrease).

Balance

You can adjust the balance of the front speakers.

1 Press [CH SELECT] to select “L” or “R”.

2 Press [◄,►].
•When testing signal, you can also adjust the “L” or “R” balance of

the front right and left speakers by pressing [◄, ►].

You can adjust subwoofer level by pressing [SUBWOOFER LEVEL],
