Advice for appliance defrosting

Refrigerator compartment

The defrosting is completely automatic and
occurs during each period of compressor stop,
monitored by the thermostat. No intervention
from you is needed. The water from defrosting
is collected in a tray located on the
compressor, where it evaporates because of
the heat generated during its running (Item 6).

Keep clean the collector and the water drain
tube. For this purpose use the supplied trench
part. Check that the tube is permanently
placed with its end in the collecting tray on the
compressor to prevent the water spilling on the
electric installation or on the floor (Item 7).

Freezer compartment

We recommend you to defrost the freezer

compartment at least twice a year or when the
ice layer is too thick.
Before defrosting, put the temperature setting
button on the highest position so that the food
get more cold.
- Unplug the appliance.
- Take out the frozen food, wrap them in several
sheets of paper and put then in a cool place.
- Leave the door open for a quick defrosting
and place inside vessels with warm water
(max. 80 degrees C / 176 degrees F) .

Ice build-up is a normal phenomenon.

The quantity and the frequency of ice build-

up depends on the ambient conditions and of
the frequency of door opening.

The ice build-up, especially in the upper side

of the compartment, is a natural phenomenon
and does not affect the good operation of the
appliance.

It is advisable to defrost the appliance when

the quantity of food is the minimum.
Do not use sharp metal objects to remove the
ice, because you risk to perforate the
evaporator.
Do not use hair dryers or other heating
electric appliances for defrosting.
After the ice has thawed, remove the water
with a cloth or a sponge, then dry well (Item 8
& 9).

Inside cleaning

Before starting the cleaning operation, unplug
the appliance.

It is recommended that you clean the

appliance when you defrost it.

Wash the inside with lukewarm water where

you add a neutral detergent. Do not use soap,
detergent, petrol or acetone which can leave a
strong odour.

Wipe with a wet sponge and dry with a soft

cloth.

During this operation, avoid the water excess
to prevent it from entering into the thermal
insulation of the appliance, which would cause
unpleasant odours.
Be careful to avoid water entering into the
enclosure of the inside lamp !
After finishing the cleaning, plug in the
appliance.
Do not forget to clean the door gaskets,
especially the ribs of the bellows, by means of
a clean cloth.

Outside cleaning

Clean the outside of the appliance by using

a sponge dipped in warm soapy water then
wipe with a soft dry cloth.

The cleaning of the outside of the

refrigerating circuit (compressor, condenser,
connection tubes) will be done by using a soft
brush or the vacuum-cleaner. During this
operation, please take care not to distort the
tubes or pull out the cables.
Do not use scouring powder or abrasive
materials !

After finishing the cleaning, put the

accessories back in their places and plug the
appliance in.

Replacing the interior light bulb

Should the light fail, switch off at the socket
outlet and pull out the mains plug.
Then ensure the bulb is screwed securely in the
bulb holder. Replace the plug and switch on.
If the light still fails, obtain a replacement E14
screw-cap type 15 Watt (Max) bulb from your
local electrical store and then fit it (Item 10)
Carefully dispose of the burnt-out light bulb
immediately.
