-Put the fixing lugs and washers in place and tighten the nuts

Princess and Cavalier:

There are two ways of replacing broken glass:

-Replace the entire frame.

-Replace the glass only. Drill out the rivets in the corners of the
frame. Put the new pane of glass in place and fix the frame with
new pop rivets (3.2 x 6 mm).

3.8 CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning or regular maintenance must only be carried out
when the stove is cold.
Dust regularly and, when necessary,
wipe surfaces clean with a well-wrung cloth dipped in a mild soapy
solution, such as washing-up liquid and water. Then dry with a
clean, dry cloth.
When necessary, steel surfaces on the stove may be touched up
with spray paint that is heat-resistant to temperatures of
approximately 500°C.
Follow the recommendations of the paint manufacturer. Ensure
that the stove is cold when working with it.

3.9. REMOVING ASHES AND SOOT

Always allow the stove and the ashes to cool down completely
before removing the ashes.
Use a metal container (preferably with a metal lid) to hold and
transport the ashes in before disposing of them.

To avoid any risk of starting an uncontrolled fire, always
make sure that the ashes have cooled down completely
before disposing of them.

It is time to remove ashes once a layer about 2 cm thick has
accumulated. To avoid a back-draught of air spreading ashes into
the room, always switch off any equipment (exhaust-air
ventilation, kitchen fans or similar) that can make the pressure
outside the fire-box lower than that inside, and make sure that the
flue/chimney damper is closed before opening the hatch, if
pressure inside the room is lower than outside. Otherwise leave
the damper open.
Remove the fender and empty the ashes with a small spade. In
stoves with a built-in ash-pan, the easiest thing is to rake the
ashes down into the ash-pan. The ash-pan must be emptied
before it becomes full.
All Kastor stoves have a high rate of combustion and produce
very little soot. If the stove is used correctly and in accordance
with the instructions, soot needs removing only now and again.
We recommend that soot is removed twice a year from stoves that
are used only occasionally. For stoves in frequent (continual) use,
we recommend that soot is removed four times a year.

Note however, that to guarantee safe, reliable operation it is
always essential to keep an eye on the build-up of soot inside
the stove and in the flue.

When removing soot, first remove the fender and then the
heat shield(s). (The shield may be placed temporarily atthe back
of the fire-box or removed completely.)
The flue must then be cleaned in the usual way and the inside of
the stove must be brushed clean with a steel brush or similar tool.
If connected to a rear flue, the stove may be eased forward and
freed from the flue to facilitate the removal of soot.
It is also possible to open up a hole in the rear of the stove’s
supporting frame. The size of the hole must be adapted to the
soot hatch in the chimney. Do not remove or saw off the entire
rear panel.

In the case of top-flue connections, any soot falls into the fire-box
from where it may be removed with the ashes.
Do not forget to replace the fender and heat shield after the soot
has been removed.
